Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Cybersecurity Analyst with a focus on Threat Detection & Risk Control to join our dynamic team in Aberdeen City Centre. In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of protecting our digital assets and sensitive information against an ever-evolving landscape of cyber threats. You will be instrumental in identifying, analysing, and mitigating security vulnerabilities and incidents, ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our systems and data. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical capabilities, and a deep understanding of modern cybersecurity principles and practices.

As a Cybersecurity Analyst specializing in Threat Detection & Risk Control, you will be responsible for continuous monitoring of security systems, performing in-depth analysis of security events, and responding swiftly to detected threats. You will contribute to the development and implementation of robust security policies, procedures, and controls. This role demands a commitment to continuous learning to stay ahead of new attack vectors and defence mechanisms. You will work closely with IT operations, development teams, and other stakeholders to embed security best practices across the organisation. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform continuous monitoring and analysis of security logs and events from various sources (SIEM, EDR, firewalls, IDS/IPS) to detect potential threats and anomalies.
  • Conduct in-depth investigations into security incidents, including forensic analysis, root cause identification, and developing appropriate remediation strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain security monitoring tools, dashboards, and alerts to enhance threat visibility.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing activities, identifying weaknesses and providing actionable recommendations for remediation.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and standards aligned with industry best practices.
  • Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques, continuously updating threat intelligence.
  • Participate in incident response planning and execution, ensuring timely and effective resolution of security breaches.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on cybersecurity best practices to internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Generate comprehensive reports on security posture, incidents, and threat intelligence for management.
  • Evaluate and recommend new security technologies and solutions to enhance overall security capabilities.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, Sentinel).
  • Experience with Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions and incident response frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, firewall rules, IDS/IPS, and web application security.
  • Knowledge of common attack vectors, malware analysis, and threat intelligence methodologies.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability management tools and processes (e.g., Nessus, Qualys).
  • Scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and data analysis.
  • Solid understanding of operating system security (Windows, Linux) and cloud security concepts.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CEH, GIAC certifications, or equivalent.
  • Experience with cloud security platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Familiarity with governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
