Job Description
icipe is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Entry Clerk to join our team in a remote capacity. This full-time position is critical for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our vital research and operational data. As a Data Entry Clerk, you will be responsible for accurately inputting, updating, and verifying various types of information into our digital databases and systems. This role demands exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to data confidentiality. You will play an essential part in supporting our scientific research and administrative functions by ensuring that all data is meticulously managed, accessible, and correctly structured. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately input a high volume of alphanumeric data from various sources (e.g., forms, documents, reports) into designated databases, spreadsheets, and online platforms.
- Verify data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency, identifying and correcting errors, inconsistencies, or missing information in a timely manner.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and security of all sensitive information and adhere to data protection policies.
- Organize and file documents, both physical and digital, in an orderly system to ensure easy retrieval and record-keeping.
- Perform regular data backups and integrity checks to ensure data reliability and prevent loss.
- Generate reports, summaries, and spreadsheets from compiled data as required by various departments or research teams.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders to resolve data discrepancies or gather missing information.
- Adhere strictly to data entry procedures, organizational guidelines, and quality standards.
- Assist with other administrative tasks, document preparation, and special projects as needed to support overall team operations and objectives.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience (at least 6 months) as a Data Entry Clerk or in a similar administrative role requiring data management.
- Exceptional typing speed and accuracy (e.g., 45+ Words Per Minute with high accuracy).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook, and experience with various data entry software.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in data input and verification.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload effectively in a remote setting.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate self-motivation, and meet deadlines without direct supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information responsibly and with integrity.
