Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Define data ownership and stewardship roles, working with business units to assign accountability for critical data elements.
- Establish and monitor data quality metrics, identify data quality issues, and collaborate with data owners to implement corrective actions.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with data governance policies and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Facilitate the classification and cataloging of data assets, ensuring proper documentation and metadata management.
- Provide training and awareness programs to promote a culture of data literacy and data stewardship across the organization.
- Collaborate with IT, legal, compliance, and risk management teams to address data-related challenges and ensure consistent data usage.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of data governance tools and technologies.
- Stay informed about emerging data governance trends, regulations, and technologies to continuously enhance our data framework.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in data governance, data quality, or data management roles, preferably within the financial services industry.
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, principles, and best practices.
- Proficiency in SQL for data querying and analysis.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, local Mozambican data protection laws) and compliance requirements.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into understandable terms for non-technical audiences.
- Experience with data cataloging, metadata management, and data lineage concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification in Data Governance (e.g., CDGP, CIMP) or Data Management (e.g., CDMP).
- Experience with data governance platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica Axon, IBM Watson Knowledge Catalog).
- Familiarity with data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken).
