In this role, you will be the guardian of our data, responsible for the full lifecycle management of our SQL Server databases. Your expertise will be crucial in designing, implementing, and managing high-availability solutions, ensuring seamless operations and minimal downtime for our diverse range of applications. You will regularly engage with complex performance tuning challenges, applying your deep knowledge of query optimization, indexing strategies, and system configurations to keep our systems running at peak efficiency. Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances across various environments.
  • Design, implement, and manage robust database backup, recovery, and replication strategies.
  • Proactively monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective optimization techniques (query tuning, index management, statistics updates).
  • Ensure the security, integrity, and availability of all database systems, adhering to best practices and compliance standards.
  • Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and patching with minimal disruption.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive database documentation, including schemas, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams on database design, schema changes, and application performance tuning.
  • Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as integrity checks, reindexing, and capacity planning.
  • Manage user access, roles, and permissions to enforce database security.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for critical database support.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator with a strong focus on Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Expert-level proficiency in T-SQL development, querying, and scripting.
  • Extensive experience with database backup, restoration, and disaster recovery strategies (e.g., full, differential, transaction log backups).
  • Deep understanding and practical experience with performance tuning and optimization (e.g., query optimization, indexing, execution plans, server configuration).
  • Strong knowledge of database security best practices and implementation.
  • Familiarity with High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions like AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Mirroring, and Log Shipping.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities, capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, MCSA: SQL Server 2016 Database Administration).
  • Experience with cloud database platforms (Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL).
  • Knowledge of other database technologies (MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases).
  • Scripting skills with PowerShell or other automation tools.
  • Experience with database monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds DPM, Redgate SQL Monitor).
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) for database code.
