Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances across various environments.
- Design, implement, and manage robust database backup, recovery, and replication strategies.
- Proactively monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective optimization techniques (query tuning, index management, statistics updates).
- Ensure the security, integrity, and availability of all database systems, adhering to best practices and compliance standards.
- Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and patching with minimal disruption.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive database documentation, including schemas, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate closely with development teams on database design, schema changes, and application performance tuning.
- Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as integrity checks, reindexing, and capacity planning.
- Manage user access, roles, and permissions to enforce database security.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for critical database support.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator with a strong focus on Microsoft SQL Server.
- Expert-level proficiency in T-SQL development, querying, and scripting.
- Extensive experience with database backup, restoration, and disaster recovery strategies (e.g., full, differential, transaction log backups).
- Deep understanding and practical experience with performance tuning and optimization (e.g., query optimization, indexing, execution plans, server configuration).
- Strong knowledge of database security best practices and implementation.
- Familiarity with High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions like AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Mirroring, and Log Shipping.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities, capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, MCSA: SQL Server 2016 Database Administration).
