Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases across various environments.
- Design, implement, and rigorously test database backup and recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
- Proactively monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement effective optimization strategies (e.g., indexing, query tuning).
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery for critical database systems using technologies like AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
- Manage database security, including user permissions, roles, and access control, adhering to best practices.
- Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as integrity checks, statistics updates, and re-indexing.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex database-related issues, providing timely and effective resolutions.
- Collaborate closely with development teams for database design, schema changes, and query optimization.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts for database administration tasks.
- Provide on-call support for critical database incidents as part of a rotation.
- Document database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps comprehensively.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+).
- Strong proficiency in T-SQL scripting, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Expertise in designing and implementing database backup and recovery strategies.
- Solid understanding of database performance monitoring tools and methodologies.
- Experience with high availability solutions such as SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups and Failover Cluster Instances.
- In-depth knowledge of database security best practices and implementation.
- Familiarity with Windows Server operating systems and SQL Server integration.
