Job Description

Kalachand & Co Ltd is seeking a dedicated Delivery Assistant to join our dynamic logistics team in Quatre Bornes. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in the smooth operation of our transport and distribution network. You will work closely with our drivers, assisting with loading, unloading, and delivering a diverse range of products to our valued customers and various retail outlets across Mauritius. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist drivers with the safe and efficient loading and unloading of goods from delivery vehicles.
  • Verify product quantities and ensure they match delivery manifests and customer orders.
  • Carefully transport items to customer premises or designated delivery points, ensuring minimal damage.
  • Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, answering questions professionally and courteously.
  • Obtain necessary signatures and complete delivery paperwork accurately.
  • Assist with basic vehicle maintenance checks and report any issues to the driver or supervisor.
  • Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and logistical procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the delivery vehicle's cargo area.
  • Support warehouse operations as needed, including sorting, packing, and preparing items for dispatch.
  • Communicate effectively with the logistics team regarding delivery status, challenges, or customer feedback.

Required Skills

  • Valid Mauritian Driving License (Category B preferred, but not strictly mandatory as this is an assistant role)
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects safely and repeatedly.
  • Strong physical fitness and stamina.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive and adaptable, with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy for handling delivery manifests and paperwork.
  • Knowledge of local routes and traffic regulations in Mauritius.
  • Punctual and reliable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (at least 6 months) in a delivery, warehousing, or logistics support role.
  • Familiarity with inventory management or dispatch systems.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Secondary School Certificate (Form V / SC).
