Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate a delivery vehicle to transport goods to customers in Algiers Point and surrounding New Orleans areas.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles and equipment, reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
- Load, unload, and secure packages and products, ensuring accurate delivery counts and condition.
- Navigate routes using GPS and local knowledge to ensure timely deliveries, adapting to traffic and road conditions.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Collect signatures or process digital confirmations for deliveries as required.
- Accurately complete all necessary paperwork, manifests, and electronic logs.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal traffic laws and transportation regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the delivery vehicle.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and customers regarding delivery status or issues.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license (Class D or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 6 months of professional driving experience (delivery, taxi, ride-share, etc.).
- Ability to lift and carry packages up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout a shift.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency with GPS devices and navigation applications.
- Knowledge of New Orleans streets and traffic patterns, particularly Algiers Point.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in courier or last-mile delivery services.
- Familiarity with handheld scanning devices and delivery software.
