Key Responsibilities
- Assist drivers with the efficient and safe loading and unloading of parcels and packages from delivery vehicles.
- Sort and organize packages within the warehouse, adhering strictly to delivery routes, schedules, and destination codes.
- Verify outgoing and incoming shipments for accuracy against manifests, invoices, and electronic records.
- Operate basic warehouse equipment such as pump trucks, pallet jacks, and hand carts safely and proficiently.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and organization within the warehouse and loading dock areas.
- Provide logistical support to delivery drivers, which may include assisting with route planning, manifest management, and navigation as needed.
- Handle all packages and freight with utmost care to prevent damage during transit and storage.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with team members, delivery drivers, supervisors, and other internal stakeholders.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols, operational procedures, and governmental regulations at all times.
- Perform other general duties as assigned by supervisors to support the seamless flow of logistics operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to consistently lift, carry, push, and pull packages weighing up to 70 lbs (32 kg) throughout a shift.
- Strong organizational skills and an excellent ability to manage time effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all tasks.
- Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced, physically demanding warehouse environment.
- High level of reliability, punctuality, and a strong, proactive work ethic.
- Basic proficiency in communication skills (reading, writing, and speaking English) for understanding instructions and documentation.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends or holidays as operational needs demand.
- Possession of a valid G-class driver’s license (or provincial equivalent) with a clean driving record is a significant asset.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
- Previous experience (e.g., 6 months to 1 year) in a warehouse, logistics, material handling, or delivery support environment.
- Familiarity with Thunder Bay city geography, street names, and major routes.
- Experience operating hand trucks, dollies, pallet jacks, or other non-motorized warehouse equipment.
- A positive, resilient attitude and a strong team-player mentality, willing to assist colleagues when needed.
