Job Description
Are you a deeply compassionate and experienced care professional with a passion for supporting individuals living with dementia, particularly during the quiet hours of the night? Career.zycto is proud to partner with a distinguished care provider situated in the historic heart of Edinburgh, seeking an exceptional Dementia Care Lead to join their dedicated night shift team on the Royal Mile. This pivotal role offers the chance to lead and inspire, ensuring residents receive dignified, person-centred care throughout the night.
As a Dementia Care Lead for the night shift, you will be the cornerstone of our residents’ nocturnal well-being. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the care provided to individuals living with various stages of dementia, ensuring their comfort, safety, and peace of mind. This isn’t just about managing tasks; it’s about creating a tranquil, reassuring environment where residents feel secure and respected. You will lead by example, guiding a small team of night carers, offering mentorship, and facilitating seamless communication to maintain our high standards of care.
The unique rhythm of the night shift requires a calm demeanor, keen observation skills, and proactive problem-solving. You will manage incidents, respond to emergencies with swift competence, and meticulously document all care activities and resident observations. A significant part of your role involves understanding and responding to the often complex and varied needs of residents with dementia, implementing individualised care plans that promote their autonomy and preserve their dignity. You’ll also be instrumental in collaborating with the day staff to ensure continuity of care, providing comprehensive handovers that detail any significant events or changes in residents’ conditions.
This position demands not only clinical competence but also profound empathy and resilience. You’ll champion the rights of residents, advocating for their choices and ensuring their voices are heard, even when unspoken. If you are ready to embrace a challenging yet immensely rewarding role, making a tangible difference to the lives of vulnerable individuals in a supportive and values-driven setting, we encourage you to apply.
