Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Administer medication reminders and monitor medication intake as per care plan.
- Plan and engage clients in stimulating activities tailored to their cognitive abilities and interests.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding, ensuring dietary restrictions are met.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized living environment.
- Observe and document changes in client's physical, emotional, or cognitive condition, reporting to supervisors and family members.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering a sense of security and belonging.
- Assist with mobility and transfers, utilizing appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with clients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Manage challenging behaviors with patience and de-escalation techniques.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in dementia care.
- Valid certification as a Personal Care Aide (PCA), Home Support Worker (HSW), or equivalent.
- Demonstrated understanding of dementia stages and best practices in dementia care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and compassionate in challenging situations.
- Strong observational and documentation skills.
- Physical ability to assist with lifting, transferring, and mobility.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
- Clean criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specific memory care programs or therapeutic activities.
- Additional language proficiency.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
