Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Full-Time Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team in Linstead, Saint Catherine Parish. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dental practice and providing an exceptional patient experience. You will work closely with our dentists, assisting with a variety of procedures, maintaining sterilization standards, and educating patients on oral hygiene. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and sterilize treatment rooms and dental instruments according to strict infection control guidelines.
  • Assist the dentist efficiently during a variety of treatment procedures, including restorative, surgical, and prophylactic treatments.
  • Take and process accurate dental radiographs (X-rays) as instructed by the dentist.
  • Provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative instructions and oral hygiene education to patients.
  • Manage patient records, appointments, and billing information with accuracy and strict confidentiality.
  • Maintain and monitor dental supplies inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels and timely reordering.
  • Perform basic laboratory duties such as pouring impressions and trimming models.
  • Ensure patient comfort, alleviate anxiety, and maintain a positive experience throughout their dental visit.
  • Adhere to all local health and safety regulations pertinent to dental practice.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of proven experience as a Dental Assistant.
  • Proficiency with dental instruments, equipment, and sterilization protocols.
  • Solid understanding of health and safety regulations (e.g., local equivalents of OSHA/HIPAA).
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-first approach.
  • Strong organizational abilities and efficient time management.
  • Familiarity and experience with common dental software.
  • Ability to take accurate dental impressions and assist with minor lab tasks.
  • Current CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification from an accredited Dental Assistant program.
  • Experience with digital radiography and intra-oral cameras.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English and local Jamaican dialects) is a significant advantage.
  • Prior experience working in a community-focused dental practice.
