Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, cosmetic, endodontic, and surgical treatments.
  • Prepare and sterilise dental instruments and equipment according to strict cross-infection control guidelines.
  • Ensure the surgery is clean, tidy, and fully stocked for each patient appointment.
  • Provide excellent chairside assistance, anticipating the needs of the dentist.
  • Offer comfort and reassurance to patients, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Process and develop dental X-rays (intra-oral and panoramic) safely and accurately.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and assist with appointment scheduling when required.
  • Undertake general administrative tasks to support the smooth running of the practice.
  • Monitor stock levels and order supplies as needed, ensuring efficient inventory management.
  • Adhere strictly to all practice policies, health and safety regulations, and GDC guidelines.

Required Skills

  • Qualified Dental Nurse/Assistant (NEBDN Diploma or equivalent)
  • Registered with the General Dental Council (GDC)
  • Minimum of 1 year post-qualification experience in a dental practice setting
  • Proficient in dental software systems (e.g., SOE Exact, Dentally)
  • Excellent knowledge of cross-infection control and sterilisation procedures
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a private dental practice environment
  • Additional qualifications in dental radiography or oral health education
  • Familiarity with digital impression systems (e.g., iTero, Trios)
