Key Responsibilities
- Provide chairside assistance to dentists and hygienists during various dental procedures, including surgical and hygiene treatments.
- Prepare and sterilize instruments, ensuring strict adherence to cross-infection control protocols.
- Maintain accurate patient records and manage appointment schedules efficiently.
- Assist with pre-operative and post-operative patient care, including giving verbal and written instructions.
- Prepare treatment rooms for each patient and ensure all necessary equipment and materials are ready.
- Process radiographs (X-rays) and assist with digital imaging.
- Manage dental stock, ordering supplies, and maintaining inventory levels.
- Support the reception desk as needed, handling patient enquiries and booking appointments.
- Ensure patient comfort and provide reassurance throughout their visit.
- Adhere to all clinic policies, CQC regulations, and GDC guidelines.
Required Skills
- GDC registration as a Dental Nurse.
- National Diploma in Dental Nursing or equivalent approved qualification.
- Minimum 1 year of post-qualification experience in a dental practice, with exposure to surgical and hygiene procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency with dental practice management software (e.g., SOE Exact, Dentally).
- High attention to detail and a commitment to clinical excellence.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional certifications in radiography, sedation, or impression taking.
- Experience with advanced surgical procedures (e.g., implants, extractions).
- Knowledge of CQC requirements and best practices.
- First Aid certification.
