Job Description

Dental Solutions Montego Bay is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Dental Clinic Assistant to join our growing team, specifically serving our patient base in Anchovy, St. James. As a Dental Clinic Assistant, you will be the backbone of our clinic’s operations, playing a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of dental care. Your primary responsibilities will span across patient support, clinical assistance, and administrative tasks. You will be the first friendly face many of our patients see, setting the tone for a positive dental experience. This role involves preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, assisting dentists during procedures, and providing essential patient education on oral hygiene. Beyond clinical support, you will manage patient appointments, update medical records, handle billing inquiries, and maintain a pristine and organized clinic environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms for dental procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are readily available.
  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment in accordance with strict infection control protocols.
  • Assist dentists during a variety of dental treatments, including passing instruments, operating suction, and preparing dental materials.
  • Provide post-operative instructions and oral hygiene education to patients.
  • Manage patient scheduling, appointments, and confirm upcoming visits.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update medical histories confidentially.
  • Handle patient inquiries, explain treatment plans, and assist with billing processes.
  • Ensure the clinic environment is clean, organized, and welcoming at all times.
  • Order and manage dental supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Perform basic laboratory procedures, such as pouring models and fabricating temporary crowns.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a recognized Dental Assistant program or relevant vocational training.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Open Dental).
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of infection control and sterilization procedures.
  • Compassionate and patient-focused approach.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare setting.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Familiarity with dental insurance procedures and billing.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) skills are a plus.
  • A strong understanding of dental terminology and procedures.
