Job Description

The Director of Global Partnerships will play a pivotal leadership role in driving Duhamic-Adri’s strategic growth and impact by cultivating, nurturing, and expanding relationships with a diverse portfolio of international donors, philanthropic foundations, multilateral organizations, and corporate partners. This critical position is responsible for identifying new funding opportunities, developing compelling proposals, and managing high-level partnerships that align with our mission and strategic objectives in rural development, agriculture, and environmental protection. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader with a proven track record in resource mobilization, partnership development, and international relations, ideally within the non-profit or development sector in Sub-Saharan Africa. They will be instrumental in positioning Duhamic-Adri as a partner of choice, articulating our unique value proposition, and ensuring that our programs receive the necessary financial and technical support to achieve scalable and sustainable outcomes across Rwanda. This role demands exceptional strategic communication skills, a deep understanding of global development trends, and the ability to inspire confidence and foster collaboration across diverse stakeholders, both locally and internationally. The Director will work closely with the Executive Director and program teams to translate strategic priorities into actionable partnership strategies, ensuring alignment and maximizing impact for the communities we serve. They will lead and mentor a dedicated team focused on grants and partnerships, providing strategic guidance and fostering a culture of excellence. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive global partnerships and resource mobilization strategy aligned with Duhamic-Adri's strategic plan and mission.
  • Identify, research, and cultivate new funding opportunities from institutional donors, philanthropic foundations, corporate partners, and multilateral agencies.
  • Lead the development of high-quality, compelling, and compliant grant proposals, concept notes, and funding applications.
  • Manage and steward relationships with existing international partners, ensuring timely reporting, compliance with grant agreements, and fostering long-term collaboration.
  • Represent Duhamic-Adri at national and international forums, conferences, and networking events to raise the organization's profile and build strategic alliances.
  • Provide strategic guidance, leadership, and mentorship to the grants and partnerships team.
  • Work collaboratively with program teams to identify funding needs, translate program successes into compelling narratives, and develop innovative project concepts.
  • Monitor global development trends, donor priorities, and funding landscapes to inform strategic decision-making and adapt partnership approaches.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of funding opportunities and oversee the grants management system.
  • Negotiate partnership agreements and contracts, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in international development, fundraising, and partnership management (minimum 7 years).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda.
  • Proven ability to develop and write successful grant proposals for major institutional donors (e.g., USAID, FCDO, EU, UN agencies, major foundations).
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical abilities, with a capacity to translate organizational vision into actionable plans.
  • Excellent project management skills, including budgeting, financial oversight, and donor reporting.
  • Proficiency in CRM or grants management software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and adapt to complex operational contexts.
  • Understanding of the development landscape in Rwanda and East Africa.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in International Development, Business Administration, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working in Rwanda or East Africa in a senior partnerships role.
  • Familiarity with agricultural development, climate resilience, food security, and gender equality programming.
  • Track record of securing multi-million dollar grants and diversifying funding streams.
  • Proficiency in French.
  • Experience with advocacy and policy engagement.
