Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Procurement to lead our procurement function in Musanze, Northern Province. This pivotal role will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive procurement strategies that align with Rwanda Mountain Tea’s business objectives, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of all necessary goods, services, and raw materials. The Director will drive significant value through strategic sourcing, robust supplier relationship management, and continuous process improvement across our supply chain. You will oversee a dynamic team, foster strong internal and external relationships, and implement best-in-class procurement practices to support our growth and sustainability goals. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive procurement strategies and policies that support the company's operational needs and strategic goals.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, ethical conduct, and professional development.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships to ensure optimal terms, quality, and delivery.
- Drive cost-reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing, demand management, and value analysis while maintaining quality standards.
- Oversee the entire procurement lifecycle, from requisition to payment, ensuring compliance with internal policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
- Implement and leverage procurement technologies and systems to enhance efficiency, transparency, and data analytics capabilities.
- Monitor market trends, supply chain risks, and emerging technologies to inform procurement strategies and maintain a competitive edge.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance, and production teams to forecast needs, optimize inventory levels, and ensure seamless supply chain integration.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for the procurement department and regularly report on performance to senior management.
- Ensure all procurement activities adhere to ethical standards, environmental sustainability goals, and company corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior procurement leadership role within the agricultural, food & beverage, or manufacturing sector.
- Proven track record of driving significant cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Experience operating within an East African business context.
- Fluency in French is an added advantage.
