Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive R&D strategy aligned with the company’s business objectives and market demands, specifically within Agricultural Technology.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary R&D team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance.
- Oversee the entire product development lifecycle from concept to commercialization, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Identify, evaluate, and integrate new technologies, methodologies, and scientific breakthroughs relevant to sustainable agriculture in Zimbabwe.
- Manage intellectual property, including patent filings and protection strategies.
- Establish and maintain strong collaborations with academic institutions, research organizations, and industry partners.
- Prepare and manage R&D budgets, resources, and timelines effectively.
- Ensure all research and development activities comply with relevant regulatory standards and ethical guidelines.
- Communicate R&D progress, challenges, and outcomes to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement in R&D processes, tools, and methodologies.
Required Skills
- PhD or Master's degree in Agricultural Science, Biotechnology, Agronomy, Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in R&D, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or directorial role.
- Demonstrated expertise in agricultural technology, crop science, sustainable farming, or related areas.
- Proven track record of successfully bringing innovative products or solutions from concept to market.
- Strong leadership, team management, and mentorship abilities.
- Excellent strategic planning, project management, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in budget management and resource allocation.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in an R&D capacity within the African agricultural sector.
- Familiarity with local Zimbabwean agricultural practices, challenges, and regulatory frameworks.
