Career.zycto is seeking an exceptional and visionary Director of Research & Development to lead our innovation initiatives in agricultural technology. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, articulate, and execute a comprehensive R&D strategy aligned with the company’s overall business objectives and long-term vision in agricultural technology.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of scientists, researchers, and technical staff, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and results-driven environment.
- Oversee the entire R&D project portfolio, from initial concept generation and feasibility studies to product development, testing, and successful commercialization.
- Manage the R&D budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial targets while maximizing research output and impact.
- Identify, evaluate, and integrate emerging technologies, research trends, and scientific advancements relevant to sustainable agriculture.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with academic institutions, industry partners, and key stakeholders to drive collaborative research initiatives and intellectual property development.
- Ensure all research activities comply with relevant regulatory standards, ethical guidelines, and intellectual property protection laws.
- Present R&D progress, challenges, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership, investors, and other internal/external stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement in R&D processes, methodologies, and infrastructure to enhance efficiency and innovation capabilities.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. in Agricultural Science, Biotechnology, Agronomy, Plant Science, or a closely related scientific field.
- Minimum of 12 years (144 months) of progressive experience in Research & Development, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or directorial role, preferably within the agricultural technology sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, project management, and successful execution of complex R&D initiatives.
- Strong understanding of agricultural practices, crop science, soil biology, pest management, and sustainable farming systems.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop diverse scientific teams.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with all levels of the organization and external partners.
- Proficiency in budget management, resource allocation, and financial oversight of R&D operations.
- Familiarity with intellectual property processes, patent applications, and regulatory frameworks relevant to agricultural products.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or equivalent business management experience.
- Prior experience working in emerging markets or with specific challenges relevant to African agricultural contexts.
- Track record of successful product launches and market penetration for agricultural innovations.
