Key Responsibilities
- Develop, articulate, and execute a comprehensive R&D strategy that aligns with Career.zycto's overarching business goals and market demands.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing, multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and technicians, fostering an environment of innovation and collaboration.
- Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from initial concept generation and feasibility studies through prototyping, testing, and successful commercialization.
- Manage the R&D budget, allocate resources effectively, and ensure optimal utilization of research facilities and equipment.
- Identify, evaluate, and integrate new technological opportunities, scientific advancements, and emerging market trends into the R&D pipeline.
- Ensure all research and development activities comply with relevant regulatory standards, ethical guidelines, and intellectual property rights.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as Marketing, Production, and Quality Assurance to ensure seamless project integration and successful market launch.
- Represent Career.zycto at scientific conferences, industry events, and in discussions with external partners, customers, and academic institutions.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, data-driven decision-making, and proactive problem-solving within the R&D function.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Electrical Engineering).
- Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in research and development, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or directorial role.
- Proven track record of successful product development, innovation, and commercialization of new technologies or products.
- Strong understanding of intellectual property management, patenting processes, and global regulatory affairs pertinent to R&D.
- Exceptional strategic planning, project management, and budget management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate, and effectively lead a diverse team of highly skilled professionals.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to thrive and innovate in a dynamic, fast-paced, and resource-constrained environment typical of emerging markets.
Preferred Qualifications
- An MBA or equivalent business qualification.
- Experience working within emerging markets, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa or Zimbabwe.
- A portfolio of publications in peer-reviewed journals, granted patents, or significant industry awards.
- Familiarity with Lean R&D methodologies, Agile development processes, or Six Sigma principles.
- Experience securing research grants or external funding for R&D projects.
