Job Description

As the Director of Research & Development at Career.zycto, you will spearhead our innovation efforts, leading a talented team of engineers, scientists, and product developers to create next-generation HR technology solutions. This pivotal role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record of bringing complex R&D projects from concept to market, ensuring they are not only technologically advanced but also commercially viable. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the R&D department, overseeing all research initiatives and development projects from inception to completion.
  • Define and execute the long-term R&D strategy and technology roadmap in alignment with Career.zycto's overarching business objectives and market vision.
  • Identify, evaluate, and strategically integrate emerging technologies, including AI, Machine Learning, Big Data, and Cloud platforms, relevant to the HR technology sector.
  • Manage and optimize R&D budgets, resource allocation, and project timelines to ensure efficient and timely project delivery.
  • Foster a dynamic culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous learning, and intellectual curiosity within the R&D team.
  • Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing and diverse team of R&D professionals.
  • Collaborate extensively with product management, engineering, marketing, and sales teams to successfully transition R&D projects into market-ready products.
  • Ensure strict compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in all research and development activities.
  • Present R&D progress, findings, strategic initiatives, and impact to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Drive intellectual property creation, protection, and patent application strategies to safeguard company innovations.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a closely related technical field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in R&D leadership roles, with at least 3 years explicitly at a Director level or equivalent.
  • Proven expertise and hands-on experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Advanced Data Analytics, and Cloud Computing platforms.
  • Strong strategic planning, critical thinking, and execution skills with a track record of delivering measurable results.
  • Exceptional leadership, team management, talent development, and mentoring abilities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical projects, significant budgets, and cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Extensive experience within the Human Resources Technology (HR Tech) sector.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup or scale-up technology environment.
  • Record of publications, patents, or significant contributions to relevant technology fields.
  • Proficiency in agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Comprehensive understanding of global data privacy regulations such as GDPR and POPIA.
  • Active participation or leadership in open-source projects or technology communities.
