Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive R&D strategy aligned with the company’s overall business objectives and long-term vision.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of R&D professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from ideation and conceptualization through research, prototyping, testing, and successful market launch.
- Identify, evaluate, and integrate emerging technologies and scientific advancements to maintain a competitive edge.
- Manage the R&D budget, resources, and timelines effectively to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within financial parameters.
- Establish and maintain robust intellectual property strategies, including patent applications and trade secret protection.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, engineering, marketing, and sales teams to ensure seamless integration of R&D outcomes.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to inform R&D priorities and opportunities.
- Implement best practices for R&D processes, quality control, and scientific methodology.
- Present R&D progress, results, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards and ethical guidelines for research and development activities.
Required Skills
- PhD or Master's degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Materials Science).
- Minimum of 13 years of progressive experience in research and development, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or directorial role.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful R&D strategies that led to tangible product innovation and commercialization.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to motivate and develop technical talent.
- Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
