Career.zycto is seeking a dynamic and highly experienced Director of Research & Development (R&D) to lead our innovation initiatives in Midlands Province, Zimbabwe. This is a critical leadership role responsible for steering the strategic direction of our R&D efforts, from concept generation through to product realization. The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of industry trends, emerging technologies, and a proven track record of successful product development and innovation management.
As the Director of R&D, you will be instrumental in defining and executing our long-term research strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and market demands. You will manage and mentor a diverse team of scientists, engineers, and researchers, fostering an environment of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement. This role demands a visionary leader capable of balancing fundamental research with applied development, intellectual property management, and strict adherence to quality and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the overall R&D strategy in alignment with business goals and market trends.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of R&D professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from ideation and feasibility studies to prototyping, testing, and commercialization.
- Manage the R&D budget effectively, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and adherence to financial targets.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies, materials, and processes that can enhance existing products or lead to new offerings.
- Establish and maintain strong intellectual property (IP) strategies, including patent filings and protection of proprietary knowledge.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, marketing, sales, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless product integration and market success.
- Monitor industry developments, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to ensure R&D efforts remain relevant and compliant.
- Represent the company at conferences, industry events, and through partnerships with academic institutions and research organizations.
- Drive continuous improvement in R&D processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
