Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive R&D strategy aligned with the company’s overall business goals and market needs.
- Lead, mentor, and expand a diverse team of researchers, engineers, and scientists, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
- Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from ideation and proof-of-concept to prototyping, testing, and successful market launch.
- Manage the R&D budget, resources, and timelines effectively to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within financial parameters.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies, materials, and processes to maintain competitive advantage and drive future growth.
- Establish and maintain strong intellectual property (IP) strategies to protect company innovations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, marketing, operations, and sales teams to ensure R&D efforts meet commercial objectives.
- Ensure all R&D activities comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Present R&D progress, challenges, and opportunities to executive leadership and stakeholders.
- Foster external partnerships with academic institutions, research organizations, and technology providers to enhance R&D capabilities.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in Research & Development, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or directorial role.
- Proven track record of successfully leading complex R&D projects from concept to commercialization.
- Strong understanding of product development methodologies, project management principles, and agile frameworks.
- Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate technical teams.
- Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in budget management, resource allocation, and timeline adherence.
- In-depth knowledge of intellectual property rights and patenting processes.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical information to diverse audiences.
