Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the long-term R&D strategy in alignment with the company’s overall business objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary R&D team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous professional development.
- Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from ideation and research to prototyping, testing, and successful launch.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies, materials, and processes that can enhance product performance, reduce costs, or create new market opportunities.
- Manage the R&D budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial targets.
- Establish and maintain robust intellectual property strategies, protecting company innovations through patents and trade secrets.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, sales, production, and quality assurance departments to ensure seamless product integration and market success.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Prepare and present regular reports on R&D project status, performance metrics, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
- Ensure all R&D activities comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and ethical guidelines.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in R&D, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of successfully bringing new products from concept to commercialization.
- Strong understanding of product development processes, project management methodologies, and quality control principles.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop high-performing technical teams.
- Excellent strategic planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in budget management and resource allocation.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with intellectual property management and patenting processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with sustainable materials and environmentally friendly manufacturing processes.
- PMP certification or other relevant project management qualifications.
