Job Description
National Foods Limited is seeking a visionary and results-driven Director of Vendor Management to lead our strategic procurement and supplier relationship initiatives. Based in Centenary, Mashonaland Central Province, this pivotal role is instrumental in optimising our extensive supply chain, which is critical for sourcing raw materials, particularly agricultural inputs, and managing a diverse portfolio of vendors essential for our food manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing best-in-class vendor management strategies that drive efficiency, reduce costs, mitigate risks, and foster long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships across our value chain.
This role demands a proactive leader with a deep understanding of supply chain dynamics in the Zimbabwean context, capable of navigating complex market conditions, ensuring the consistent availability of high-quality inputs for our manufacturing processes, and maintaining stringent compliance standards. You will spearhead all aspects of vendor lifecycle management, from strategic sourcing and selection to contract negotiation, performance monitoring, and relationship optimisation. A key focus will be on establishing robust service level agreements, key performance indicators (KPIs), and a continuous improvement framework to ensure our vendor ecosystem not only meets but exceeds our operational and quality expectations.
You will be tasked with identifying and onboarding new suppliers, evaluating existing ones, and driving initiatives that enhance supply chain resilience and sustainability. This includes leveraging technology to streamline processes, identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality, and proactively addressing any supply chain disruptions. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive vendor management strategies aligned with company goals and supply chain objectives.
- Lead all aspects of vendor lifecycle management, including sourcing, selection, qualification, contract negotiation, and ongoing relationship management.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) to evaluate vendor performance and ensure compliance.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with the vendor base and supply chain, including quality, delivery, and financial risks.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives, process efficiencies, and value creation through strategic vendor partnerships.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Procurement, Operations, Quality Assurance, Finance, Legal) to ensure alignment and integration of vendor strategies.
- Stay abreast of market trends, industry best practices, and technological advancements in vendor management and supply chain.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team within the vendor management function.
- Ensure ethical procurement practices and compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
- Prepare and present regular reports on vendor performance, risks, and strategic initiatives to senior management.

- Experience in the agribusiness, food manufacturing, or FMCG sectors in Zimbabwe.
- Proven track record of driving significant cost savings and efficiency improvements through vendor management.
