Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking compassionate, dedicated, and proactive Disability Support Workers to join our network of reputable social care providers in the beautiful coastal area of Barra Beach, Inhambane. As a Disability Support Worker, you will be at the heart of delivering person-centered care, providing essential support that respects the dignity, choices, and aspirations of each individual. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centered support to individuals with diverse disabilities, adhering to individual care plans and promoting independence.
  • Assist with personal care, including showering, dressing, and grooming, with utmost respect for privacy and dignity.
  • Support individuals in daily living tasks such as meal preparation, light household duties, and medication management (under supervision).
  • Facilitate community access and participation, including transport to appointments, social outings, and recreational activities.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, utilizing appropriate equipment and safe handling techniques.
  • Document observations, progress, and incidents accurately and promptly, ensuring clear communication with team members and supervisors.
  • Advocate for the rights and choices of individuals, empowering them to make decisions about their lives.
  • Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote skill development, social interaction, and overall well-being.
  • Maintain a safe, hygienic, and supportive environment for clients.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, families, colleagues, and other stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in disability support, aged care, or a similar field (minimum 12 months).
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to assist others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Capacity to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Proficiency in basic first aid and emergency response procedures.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transport are highly preferred for community access.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certification in Disability Support, Aged Care, or Community Services.
  • Experience working with individuals with complex needs or challenging behaviors.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and services in Inhambane.
  • Proficiency in local languages or dialects common in the Barra Beach region.
  • Current CPR certification.
