Key Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule daily routes for drivers and vehicles, optimising for efficiency and timely deliveries.
- Monitor real-time progress of deliveries, tracking vehicles and communicating updates to drivers and relevant stakeholders.
- Act as the primary point of contact for drivers, addressing issues, providing guidance, and offering support throughout their shifts.
- Respond promptly and effectively to unforeseen circumstances, such as traffic delays, vehicle breakdowns, or changes in client requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections, vehicle maintenance, and driver hours.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transport regulations, health and safety standards, and company policies.
- Collaborate closely with warehouse staff, sales teams, and customer service to ensure seamless operational flow.
- Utilise dispatch software and communication tools to manage workflow and streamline operations.
- Assist in the onboarding and training of new drivers regarding routes and procedures.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Dispatcher or in a similar transport coordination role.
- Excellent geographical knowledge of Nottinghamshire and the wider Midlands region.
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities, with keen attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with a professional phone manner.
- Proficiency in using dispatch software, GPS systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving aptitude with a proactive and calm approach to challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
