Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized, efficient, and proactive Dispatcher to join our logistics team in Port Maria, Saint Mary Parish. The ideal candidate will be the central hub of communication, ensuring the seamless coordination of our fleet and delivery operations. This vital role involves managing the daily routes of our delivery drivers, optimizing schedules for maximum efficiency, and responding swiftly to any operational changes or challenges. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and optimize daily delivery routes for drivers, considering traffic, weather, and delivery schedules to maximize efficiency and meet deadlines.
- Dispatch drivers and vehicles for deliveries, ensuring they have all necessary documentation and information.
- Monitor fleet movement using GPS tracking systems and communicate with drivers to provide real-time updates and support.
- Respond promptly to delivery issues, driver inquiries, and customer requests, making necessary adjustments to routes and schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, and driver activities, including mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance needs.
- Collaborate closely with warehousing, sales, and customer service teams to ensure smooth order fulfillment and delivery.
- Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and company safety policies.
- Prepare daily reports on dispatch operations, including delivery performance and any encountered challenges.
- Assist in the training of new dispatch personnel and drivers as required.
- Proactively identify potential logistical bottlenecks and suggest improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a dispatch or logistics coordination role.
- Proficiency in logistics software and GPS tracking systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
- Exceptional geographical knowledge of Jamaica, particularly Saint Mary Parish and surrounding areas.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience with SAP or other major ERP systems.
- Familiarity with local transportation regulations and compliance standards.
- Certification in logistics or supply chain management.
- Previous experience in a similar role within the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) industry.
