Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our dynamic Logistics Control team in Old Harbour. As a Dispatcher, you will be the central point of contact for our fleet operations, playing a critical role in the efficient movement and delivery of goods across the island. This position requires exceptional problem-solving skills, the ability to thrive under pressure, and a strong commitment to operational excellence. You will be responsible for coordinating drivers, routes, and schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries, while also managing unexpected challenges and maintaining clear communication with various stakeholders. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily dispatch operations, including scheduling drivers and assigning routes to ensure optimal efficiency and timely deliveries.
  • Utilize GPS and tracking software to monitor vehicle locations, driver performance, and delivery progress in real-time.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, sales teams, warehouse personnel, and customers regarding delivery schedules, delays, and any operational changes.
  • Proactively identify and resolve logistical issues, such as traffic congestion, vehicle breakdowns, or changes in customer orders, to minimize disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, including delivery manifests, mileage logs, and incident reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
  • Prepare daily reports on dispatch performance, identifying areas for improvement and contributing to operational optimization initiatives.
  • Manage vehicle availability and coordinate with the maintenance department for servicing and repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Assist in the training and onboarding of new drivers on company procedures and dispatch protocols.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a logistics, dispatch, or transportation coordination role.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a calm demeanor under pressure.
  • Thorough understanding of road networks and geographical areas within Jamaica, particularly Saint Catherine and surrounding parishes.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as required by operational needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certification in logistics or transportation management.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems related to logistics modules.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance schedules and basic mechanical understanding.
