Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Dispatcher – Logistics Coordinator to join our dedicated team in Kahama, Shinyanga Region. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and dispatch drivers and vehicles for deliveries and collections, ensuring optimal route efficiency and adherence to schedules.
- Monitor the movement of vehicles and goods using tracking systems, providing real-time updates and addressing any deviations.
- Communicate effectively with drivers regarding assignments, routes, traffic conditions, and delivery instructions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing accurate delivery estimates and resolving any service-related inquiries or issues.
- Maintain comprehensive dispatch records, including mileage, fuel consumption, delivery times, and driver logs.
- Collaborate with warehouse and inventory teams to ensure timely loading and unloading of goods.
- Proactively identify and resolve logistical challenges, such as unexpected delays, vehicle breakdowns, or changes in customer requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Prepare daily and weekly reports on fleet performance, delivery metrics, and operational incidents.
- Assist in the continuous improvement of dispatch procedures and logistical processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Dispatcher, Logistics Coordinator, or similar role.
- Excellent knowledge of logistics and supply chain processes.
- Proficiency in using dispatch and tracking software (e.g., GPS, TMS).
- Strong geographical knowledge of Shinyanga Region and surrounding areas.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a diploma or degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a logistics role within the mining or general supply industry.
- Familiarity with Tanzanian road networks and transportation regulations.
- Ability to speak Swahili fluently.
- A valid Tanzanian driving license (Class C or higher).
