Job Description
National Foods Limited is seeking a highly organized, efficient, and proactive Dispatcher/Logistics Personnel to join our robust operations team in Karoi, Mashonaland West Province. This critical role is at the heart of our supply chain, ensuring the timely and cost-effective movement of goods, from raw materials to finished products, across our extensive network. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating daily transportation activities, managing fleet schedules, and communicating effectively with drivers, suppliers, and internal departments.
Your primary objective will be to optimize delivery routes, minimize delays, and maintain meticulous records to enhance our operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. This position requires a keen eye for detail, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment. You will be instrumental in scheduling and monitoring vehicle movements, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and contributing to the overall strategic planning of our logistics department. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and dispatch vehicles for deliveries and collections, optimizing routes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Monitor fleet movements using tracking systems, providing real-time updates and resolving any operational issues.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, ensuring clear instructions, adherence to schedules, and compliance with company policies.
- Coordinate with warehousing, sales, and procurement departments to ensure smooth flow of goods and timely dispatches.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, delivery schedules, mileage, fuel consumption, and driver logs.
- Manage and resolve logistical problems, including delivery delays, vehicle breakdowns, and route changes, proactively and efficiently.
- Ensure all dispatch activities comply with national transport regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly logistics reports for management review, highlighting key performance indicators.
- Assist in the maintenance and servicing schedules of the fleet to minimize downtime and ensure roadworthiness.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of logistics processes and strategies, suggesting efficiency gains.
- Handle inquiries from customers and internal stakeholders regarding delivery statuses and provide excellent service.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Dispatcher or in a similar logistics role for at least 2 years.
- Excellent knowledge of Zimbabwean geographical areas and optimal routing.
- Proficiency in dispatching software and fleet tracking systems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and make quick, sound decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience in the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) or agricultural sector logistics.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and basic mechanical understanding.
- First Aid and defensive driving certification.
- Familiarity with local transport regulations and compliance standards.
