As a Dispatcher in our busy Busia transport office, you will be the central hub of our daily operations, playing a critical role in orchestrating the movement of our fleet and ensuring our passengers experience reliable and timely travel. This demanding yet rewarding position requires a keen eye for detail, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule daily bus routes, ensuring optimal utilization of the fleet and adherence to timetables.
- Assign drivers and vehicles to specific routes based on availability, experience, and service requirements.
- Monitor real-time vehicle movement using tracking systems, promptly identifying and addressing any deviations or delays.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, providing clear instructions, updates, and support throughout their shifts.
- Respond quickly and efficiently to unexpected operational challenges, such as breakdowns, accidents, or traffic congestion, re-routing as necessary.
- Liaise with the maintenance department to ensure vehicles are in optimal working condition and available for scheduled routes.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, including driver logs, vehicle assignments, and incident reports.
- Provide timely updates to customer service and management regarding significant operational changes or delays.
- Ensure compliance with all transport regulations and company safety policies.
- Contribute to a positive and productive work environment within the transport office.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in dispatching or transport coordination, preferably within a passenger transport or logistics setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and standard office applications (MS Office Suite).
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
- A strong understanding of local geography and road networks within Kenya.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as operational needs demand.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Familiarity with bus operations and passenger transport regulations in Kenya.
