Career.zycto is seeking an energetic and talented Part-Time DJ to bring the beats and good vibes to school events across Livonia and surrounding areas. As our School Events DJ, you will be responsible for setting up and tearing down equipment efficiently, managing sound levels, responding to song requests, and interacting positively with students, faculty, and event organizers. Your ability to create dynamic playlists, use lighting and effects effectively, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times will be key to your success. This part-time position offers flexible hours, primarily on evenings and weekends, making it ideal for students, freelancers, or anyone looking to supplement their income with an engaging and rewarding gig. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain professional audio and lighting equipment for various school events (dances, proms, pep rallies, etc.).
- Curate and mix diverse music selections appropriate for a youth audience, adhering to event guidelines and school policies.
- Engage with the crowd, take song requests, and manage the overall flow and energy of the event.
- Ensure timely setup, sound checks, and teardown of all DJ equipment.
- Troubleshoot minor technical issues with sound and lighting equipment during events.
- Communicate effectively with school staff, event organizers, and students to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.
- Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a DJ, preferably with event or party experience.
- Proficiency in mixing music and operating professional DJ software/hardware.
- Extensive knowledge of popular music genres across various decades (Top 40, Hip-Hop, Pop, R&B, EDM, Throwbacks, etc.).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage a crowd.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different event atmospheres and musical preferences.
- Reliable transportation and ability to transport equipment to various locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience DJing school dances, proms, or youth events.
- Own professional DJ equipment (turntables/controller, mixer, speakers, lighting) is a plus, but not required.
- Basic knowledge of sound engineering and lighting effects.
- First Aid/CPR certification (for school environments, if applicable).
