Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload LTL freight efficiently and safely from trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, and by hand.
- Sort and stage freight according to destination, ensuring proper labeling and organization.
- Inspect freight for damage and accurately report any discrepancies or issues.
- Operate various material handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks, in a safe and skilled manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment on the dock at all times.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and DOT regulations.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and drivers to ensure seamless operations.
- Perform routine pre- and post-operation checks on equipment and report any maintenance needs.
- Assist with inventory management tasks, including scanning and tracking freight as required.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy freight (up to 75 lbs regularly, occasionally more) with assistance.
- Proven reliability and strong work ethic.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic warehouse environment.
- Basic math and reading comprehension skills.
- Strong commitment to safety procedures and protocols.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (6+ months) in a warehouse, dock, or logistics setting.
- Current forklift certification or demonstrated experience operating a forklift.
- Familiarity with Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) operations and freight handling.
- Experience with scanning equipment and warehouse management systems.
- High School Diploma or GED.
