Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Full-Time Drilling Engineer to join our innovative team in Streetsville, Mississauga. This pivotal role involves contributing to the planning, design, execution, and optimization of drilling programs for various energy projects. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize drilling programs, including casing design, drill string design, bit selection, and hydraulics.
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations and simulations to ensure wellbore stability, efficient drilling, and well integrity.
  • Monitor daily drilling operations, analyze performance data, and implement real-time adjustments to improve efficiency and mitigate risks.
  • Prepare comprehensive engineering reports, including prognoses, daily operational summaries, and end-of-well reports.
  • Collaborate closely with geology, completions, and reservoir engineering teams to integrate drilling plans with overall field development strategies.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies throughout all drilling activities.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans for potential drilling hazards.
  • Evaluate and recommend new drilling technologies, equipment, and best practices to enhance operational performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to field personnel.
  • Participate in post-drilling reviews to capture lessons learned and apply them to future projects.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Drilling Engineer in the oil and gas industry.
  • Proficiency in drilling engineering software (e.g., WellPlan, StressCheck, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of drilling mechanics, well control, and drilling fluid properties.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
  • Proven track record of ensuring safety and environmental compliance.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in Ontario or eligibility to obtain.
  • Experience with unconventional drilling techniques (e.g., horizontal drilling, multi-lateral wells).
  • Familiarity with project management principles and software.
  • Certifications in well control (e.g., IWCF or IADC).
