Job Description
Are you an experienced and reliable driver with a passion for local logistics and delivering smiles? Desnoes & Geddes Limited, the home of Red Stripe, is seeking a dedicated Driver to join our dynamic team in Ewarton, St. Catherine. This is a critical role responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of our beloved products – from refreshing Red Stripe beers to energizing Malta and other popular beverages – to our valued customers across the local Ewarton and surrounding St. Catherine areas. As a Driver, you will be the face of Red Stripe, interacting with clients, ensuring product integrity, and navigating local routes with precision and professionalism. We are looking for an individual who takes pride in their vehicle, understands the importance of a clean driving record, and is committed to upholding our high standards of safety and customer service. This role requires not just driving skills but also a keen eye for detail in handling goods, accurate record-keeping, and the physical ability to manage loading and unloading tasks. You will be operating a company-provided vehicle, maintaining it to high standards, and ensuring all deliveries are made in accordance with company policies and road safety regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate and maintain company vehicles for the delivery of products to designated locations within Ewarton and the wider St. Catherine parish.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company driving policies, and safety regulations at all times.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any mechanical issues or damage promptly.
- Load and unload products from the vehicle, ensuring accurate inventory checks against delivery manifests.
- Verify product quantities and condition with customers at the point of delivery, obtaining necessary signatures and documentation.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, mileage records, and vehicle maintenance records.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, representing the company professionally.
- Navigate routes efficiently using maps or GPS, optimizing for time and fuel consumption.
- Assist with warehousing and inventory tasks as needed, particularly during loading and unloading.
- Handle cash or electronic payments from customers as required, ensuring secure and accurate transactions.
Required Skills
- Valid Jamaican General Driver's License (preferably Class C or E, suitable for delivery vehicles)
- Clean driving record for at least the past three years
- Proven experience in commercial driving or local delivery roles
- Strong knowledge of Ewarton and St. Catherine road networks
- Ability to lift and move heavy packages (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly throughout the day
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge (e.g., checking oil, tires)
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent GCE/CXC passes
- Certificate in defensive driving or road safety
- Previous experience delivering fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG)
- Familiarity with inventory management systems or handheld delivery devices
- Strong customer service orientation with a friendly and professional demeanor
