Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport executives, clients, and employees to various destinations within Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha) and surrounding areas, strictly adhering to scheduled itineraries and company requirements.
- Perform daily pre-and post-trip vehicle inspections, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, lights, and brakes, and promptly report any mechanical issues, defects, or maintenance needs.
- Maintain the exceptional cleanliness and pristine condition of the assigned company vehicle, both interior and exterior, ensuring a professional appearance at all times.
- Operate vehicles in full compliance with all South African traffic laws, national road safety regulations, and Bidvest Car Rental's internal safety policies and operational procedures.
- Assist passengers with loading and unloading luggage and personal belongings, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and safety throughout the entire journey.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of mileage, fuel consumption, travel times, and journey logs as required by company policy and for compliance purposes.
- Represent Bidvest Car Rental with the highest level of professionalism, discretion, courtesy, and respect when interacting with passengers and the general public.
- Plan routes effectively, utilizing navigation tools and extensive local knowledge to avoid traffic congestion and ensure optimal, timely arrivals and departures.
- Proactively manage unforeseen circumstances such as traffic delays, flat tires, or minor vehicle incidents calmly and professionally, following established company emergency protocols.
- Handle confidential information with utmost discretion and ensure the privacy and security of passengers and company affairs.
- Adhere strictly to all company policies regarding vehicle usage, reporting, dress code, and personal conduct.
Required Skills
- Valid Code B (or higher) South African Driver's License with a current Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) specifically for passenger transport.
- Minimum of 3 years (36 months) of verifiable professional driving experience, with a preference for corporate, chauffeur, or executive passenger transport capacity.
- Impeccable driving record with no major traffic violations, serious accidents, or criminal history.
- Excellent knowledge of Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha) and surrounding Eastern Cape routes, including key landmarks, business districts, and traffic patterns.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally, politely, and discreetly with diverse individuals.
- High level of punctuality, reliability, responsibility, and a demonstrated strong work ethic.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound discretion.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English to communicate effectively.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and troubleshooting skills to address minor issues when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Advanced Driving or Defensive Driving courses from a reputable institution.
- Valid First Aid certification.
- Prior experience driving luxury or executive vehicle types.
