Career.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated and professional Driver – Logistics & Delivery to join our growing team in Salt Spring, St. James. This pivotal full-time role involves operating a company-provided vehicle to ensure the timely and safe transport of goods to various destinations within St. James and neighboring parishes. As a Driver, you will be the face of Career.zycto, playing a crucial role in our commitment to exceptional customer service and operational efficiency.
We are looking for an individual with a strong sense of responsibility, excellent road safety practices, and a meticulous approach to logistics. Your day will involve carefully loading and unloading cargo, verifying delivery details with clients, and maintaining accurate records of your routes and deliveries. You will be expected to conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your assigned vehicle, reporting any issues promptly to ensure its continuous roadworthiness and safety. Key Responsibilities
- Operate company-provided delivery vehicles safely and efficiently to transport goods to designated locations.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles, ensuring they are clean, fueled, and in good working condition.
- Load and unload cargo carefully, ensuring proper securing and handling to prevent damage during transit.
- Verify delivery contents against shipping documents, obtaining necessary signatures and documentation upon delivery and pickup.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, vehicle maintenance, fuel consumption, and mileage.
- Adhere to all local and national traffic laws and company safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and customers, providing updates on delivery status and addressing any issues promptly.
- Handle customer inquiries and concerns professionally and courteously during deliveries.
- Assist with basic vehicle maintenance and cleanliness as required.
- Report any vehicle malfunctions, accidents, or traffic violations immediately to management.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (e.g., Class C or F in Jamaica, appropriate for light commercial vehicles)
- Clean driving record with no major violations for at least the past 3-5 years
- Proficiency in navigating routes using maps, GPS, and knowledge of local areas in St. James and surrounding parishes
- Strong time management and organizational skills to meet delivery schedules
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for customer interaction
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety checks
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience (2+ years) in a professional driving or delivery role
- Familiarity with inventory management systems or hand-held delivery devices
- Customer service experience in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of local logistics and supply chain operations in Jamaica
