Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently to transport goods to various destinations.
- Plan and execute daily delivery routes in an optimized and timely manner.
- Load and unload packages, ensuring proper handling and secure transit of all items.
- Complete and verify all delivery documentation, including invoices, manifests, and proof of delivery forms.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any mechanical issues or maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents encountered.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company safety policies.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, representing the company professionally.
- Handle cash or cheque payments from clients, if required, and ensure accurate reconciliation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, management, and clients regarding delivery status or potential delays.
- Maintain the cleanliness and basic upkeep of the assigned company vehicle.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (Jamaica, Class C or higher preferred).
- Proven clean driving record with no major infractions.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience as a delivery driver or in a similar logistics role.
- Extensive knowledge of Kingston and surrounding metropolitan areas, including optimal routes and traffic patterns.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and move heavy items, as required for loading/unloading.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet delivery schedules.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective client interaction.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with route optimization software or GPS navigation systems.
- Prior experience in a customer-facing role within logistics.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting.
- Certification in Defensive Driving.
- Familiarity with inventory management and tracking procedures.
