Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles in a safe and efficient manner, adhering strictly to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring proper securing and handling to prevent damage during transit.
- Plan and execute delivery routes efficiently to meet scheduled deadlines and optimize fuel consumption.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, including mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery confirmations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and internal staff regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Handle all delivery documentation accurately, including invoices, manifests, and proof of delivery receipts.
- Ensure the cleanliness and presentability of the company vehicle at all times.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, particularly when handling specific types of cargo.
- Assist with warehouse duties or other logistical tasks as required, when not on delivery routes.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (Jamaica)
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably in logistics or delivery.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Excellent knowledge of Kingston's road networks and traffic regulations.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with route optimization software or GPS navigation systems.
- Defensive driving certification.
- Familiarity with various types of delivery vehicles (e.g., vans, small trucks).
- Customer service experience in a delivery context.
