Job Description
Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly motivated and responsible Driver – Logistics & Delivery to join our growing team in Independence City, Portmore. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional who takes pride in safe driving, efficient delivery, and exceptional customer service. As a crucial member of our logistics network, you will be responsible for the timely and secure transportation of goods, ensuring that our clients’ expectations are not just met, but exceeded. You will operate a company-provided vehicle, maintaining it to high standards of cleanliness and operational efficiency.
This role is far more than just driving; it involves careful route planning, meticulous record-keeping, and proactive communication. You will be expected to conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, troubleshoot minor mechanical issues, and ensure all documentation related to deliveries and vehicle maintenance is accurately completed. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate a company-provided vehicle for the delivery and pickup of goods.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles and equipment, reporting any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely deliveries, adhering to schedules and traffic laws.
- Load and unload cargo safely, ensuring proper handling and securing of items to prevent damage.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, vehicle maintenance records, and all required paperwork.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and internal teams regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic regulations, company safety policies, and local transportation laws.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, representing Career.zycto professionally.
- Handle cash or payment collection as required, ensuring accurate reconciliation.
- Assist with warehouse duties or other tasks as needed during periods of low delivery volume.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (Jamaica).
- Clean driving record for at least the past 3 years.
- Proven experience as a professional driver in logistics or delivery.
- Strong knowledge of Portmore, St. Catherine, and surrounding road networks.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy packages (up to 50 lbs) safely.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to company policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GPS navigation systems and delivery route optimization software.
- Certificate in Defensive Driving.
- Familiarity with inventory management or scanning systems.
- Customer service experience in a delivery context.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including some weekends or holidays if required.
