Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate a company-provided vehicle for the transport and delivery of goods.
- Plan and execute delivery routes, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries to designated locations within St. Elizabeth and surrounding parishes.
- Load and unload vehicles, verifying cargo against delivery manifests to ensure accuracy and prevent discrepancies.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance needs or issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, records, and documentation, including proof of delivery and mileage reports.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company driving policies.
- Provide exceptional customer service during interactions at pick-up and delivery points.
- Handle cash or payment transactions as required, ensuring proper accounting and reporting.
- Maintain the cleanliness and proper functioning of the assigned company vehicle.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and customers regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (Jamaica).
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) professional driving experience, preferably in logistics or delivery.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Excellent knowledge of road safety regulations and traffic laws in Jamaica.
- Strong geographical knowledge of St. Elizabeth and surrounding areas.
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor vehicle checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with GPS navigation systems and route optimization software.
- Customer service experience in a delivery context.
- Proficiency in basic record-keeping and data entry.
