Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and reliable Driver – Logistics & Delivery professional to join our growing team in Salt Spring, St. James. This is a critical role responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation and delivery of various goods to our valued clients across the St. James region. As a core member of our logistics operation, you will be entrusted with a company vehicle, ensuring that all deliveries are executed with the highest standards of professionalism and customer service.
Your day will involve navigating established routes, performing meticulous pre-trip and post-trip inspections to guarantee vehicle safety and compliance, and handling packages with care during loading and unloading. Key Responsibilities
- Operate company-provided delivery vehicles safely and responsibly, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, reporting any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
- Load, unload, and secure a variety of goods and packages, ensuring their safe transport and delivery.
- Follow planned delivery routes and schedules efficiently, striving for on-time delivery performance.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, manifests, and documentation, including proof of delivery and return receipts.
- Handle cash or process electronic payments for deliveries when required, ensuring accuracy and security.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, representing Career.zycto professionally.
- Assist with warehouse duties or other logistical tasks as needed to ensure smooth operations.
- Report any accidents, incidents, traffic violations, or service disruptions to management immediately.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (e.g., Class B/C in Jamaica or equivalent)
- Clean driving record for at least the past 3-5 years
- Excellent knowledge of Salt Spring and surrounding St. James areas for efficient navigation
- Strong time management and organizational skills to meet delivery schedules
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Effective verbal communication and customer service skills
- Basic literacy and numeracy for accurate record-keeping and paperwork
- Physical stamina and endurance for prolonged driving and manual handling tasks
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience in logistics or delivery services
- Experience operating delivery vans or light commercial trucks
