Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently to transport goods to various locations within specified delivery zones.
- Plan and execute daily delivery routes, optimizing for time and fuel efficiency using navigation tools.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, reporting any maintenance issues or defects immediately.
- Accurately load, unload, and secure goods, ensuring proper handling and protection against damage.
- Verify cargo against manifests and delivery notes, obtaining necessary signatures and documentation upon delivery.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with dispatchers regarding delivery status, delays, and any unforeseen circumstances.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, representing Career.zycto professionally.
- Keep the company vehicle clean, organized, and properly maintained.
- Assist with warehouse duties or other tasks as needed when not on delivery routes.
Required Skills
- Valid Jamaican General Driver's License (Class C or D equivalent)
- Clean driving record with no major violations for at least 3 years
- Proven experience as a professional driver, preferably in logistics or delivery
- Strong knowledge of local roads and routes in Newtown, Black River, and surrounding areas
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to lift and carry heavy packages (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- High degree of reliability, punctuality, and responsibility
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate in Defensive Driving
- Previous experience operating delivery trucks or vans (e.g., panel vans, box trucks)
- Familiarity with inventory management systems or handheld delivery devices
- Strong customer service background
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting
