Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate a company-provided vehicle to deliver a variety of items to designated locations within Independence City, Portmore, and surrounding areas.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance issues or damages promptly.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring proper handling, securing, and documentation of all items.
- Verify accuracy of cargo against delivery manifests before and after each trip.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor.
- Collect payments, obtain customer signatures, and handle delivery receipts as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and regular basic upkeep of the company vehicle.
- Manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules and deadlines.
- Communicate proactively with dispatch and management regarding delays, issues, or completion of deliveries.
- Assist with warehouse duties or other tasks as needed when not on delivery routes.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (Class C or equivalent for Jamaica)
- Clean driving record with no major infractions
- Proven experience in logistics, delivery, or professional driving (minimum 2 years)
- Excellent knowledge of Portmore and surrounding St. Catherine areas
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency in using GPS navigation systems and mobile applications
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in defensive driving or similar safety training.
- Experience with route optimization software.
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Prior experience in a customer-facing delivery role.
