Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently to transport goods to various locations within specified routes.
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws, company safety policies, and all road regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, documenting any maintenance needs or issues.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo to prevent damage.
- Verify accuracy of delivery orders, obtain necessary signatures, and collect payments when required.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents encountered.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and team members regarding delivery status, delays, or concerns.
- Handle customer interactions professionally and courteously, addressing inquiries or concerns promptly.
- Keep the company vehicle clean and tidy, performing basic maintenance tasks as needed.
- Assist with warehouse duties or other tasks as assigned during periods of low delivery volume.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (Class B or equivalent for Jamaica)
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience
- Clean driving record with no major violations for the past 5 years
- Excellent knowledge of Walderston, Manchester, and surrounding areas in Jamaica
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to lift and carry heavy packages (up to 50 lbs) regularly
- Proficiency in basic vehicle maintenance checks
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to protocols
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience with GPS navigation systems and delivery tracking applications
- Certification in defensive driving
- Familiarity with various types of delivery vehicles (e.g., vans, small trucks)
- Customer service experience in a delivery or logistics context
