Key Responsibilities
- Operate company-provided vehicles safely and efficiently to transport goods to designated locations.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring secure transit and careful handling to prevent damage.
- Verify delivery contents against shipping documents, obtain necessary signatures, and process paperwork accurately.
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle, inside and out.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, representing the company professionally.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes to meet delivery schedules.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and team members regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Handle cash or electronic payments for deliveries as required, ensuring accurate reconciliation.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (Class B or C, appropriate for vehicle type)
- Clean driving record (no major traffic tickets or at-fault accidents)
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience in a similar role
- Excellent knowledge of St. Catherine and surrounding parishes' road networks
- Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Punctual and reliable with a strong work ethic
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency in using GPS navigation systems and route planning tools
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience with delivery manifests and electronic proof of delivery systems
- Prior customer service experience in a delivery context
- Certification in defensive driving
