Key Responsibilities
- Operate company-provided vehicles safely and efficiently to transport goods to various locations within Old Harbour Bay, Old Harbour, and surrounding areas.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance issues or defects promptly to ensure optimal operating condition.
- Ensure accurate loading and unloading of goods, verifying all items against delivery manifests and securing cargo properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and local transportation regulations, prioritizing safety at all times.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, records, and trip sheets, meticulously documenting mileage, fuel consumption, delivery times, and any incidents.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, interacting professionally and courteously with clients and representing Career.zycto positively.
- Handle cash or process electronic payments if required, ensuring accuracy, security, and proper reconciliation of transactions.
- Assist with warehouse duties such as picking, packing, and organizing goods when not on active delivery routes, contributing to overall team efficiency.
- Maintain the cleanliness and good operating condition of the company vehicle, performing minor checks and alerting management to necessary servicing.
- Communicate effectively and proactively with dispatch, supervisors, and customers regarding delivery status, potential delays, or any unforeseen issues.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (preferably Class C or above) for commercial vehicles in Jamaica, with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in commercial driving, logistics, or delivery services.
- Strong knowledge of Old Harbour Bay, Old Harbour, St. Catherine, and surrounding road networks.
- Exceptional time management, organizational, and route planning skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, loading, and unloading goods up to 50 lbs.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and troubleshooting capabilities for minor mechanical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with team members and customers.
- High degree of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Certification in defensive driving or advanced driver training.
- Experience with delivery route optimization software or GPS navigation systems.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems or digital manifest platforms.
- Previous customer service experience in a delivery or client-facing context.
