This crucial role involves operating a company-provided vehicle to transport goods safely and efficiently to various locations within St. Andrew and surrounding parishes. As a Driver, you will be the face of our company, responsible for ensuring timely deliveries, maintaining vehicle integrity, and providing exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company-owned vehicles for the transportation and delivery of goods across specified routes.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, documenting any issues or required maintenance.
- Load and unload goods accurately and carefully, ensuring items are secured properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, records of mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents encountered.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, ensuring a positive experience for recipients.
- Handle delivery documentation, including signing off on invoices and obtaining customer signatures.
- Assist with route planning and optimization to ensure efficient and timely deliveries.
- Maintain the cleanliness and good working order of the company vehicle.
- Report any vehicle malfunctions, accidents, traffic violations, or service needs promptly.
Required Skills
- Valid Jamaican General Driver's License (preferably with endorsement for commercial vehicles).
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable professional driving experience.
- Clean driving record with no major traffic violations or accidents.
- Proven ability to operate various vehicle types safely and efficiently.
- Strong geographical knowledge of Cherry Gardens, St. Andrew, and surrounding areas.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for routine vehicle checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with route optimization software or GPS navigation systems.
- Prior experience in logistics, courier, or delivery services.
- Certification in defensive driving or advanced driver training.
