This critical full-time role involves operating company vehicles to ensure the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of goods to various destinations across the region. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles (vans, light trucks) for delivery and logistics tasks.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring secure transit and proper handling, including heavy packages up to 50 lbs.
- Plan and execute efficient delivery routes to meet scheduled deadlines and optimize time.
- Perform diligent pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, reporting any maintenance issues or defects promptly.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, records, and documentation, ensuring all paperwork is complete and legible.
- Adhere strictly to all Jamaican traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations at all times.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, representing the company professionally and courteously.
- Assist with warehouse duties, sorting, and inventory management when not on active delivery routes, as needed.
- Handle cash or payment collection as required, ensuring accurate record-keeping and proper reconciliation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding delivery status or any issues.
Required Skills
- Valid Jamaican General Driver's License (e.g., Class B or C equivalent).
- Clean driving record with no major infractions.
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar logistics role.
- Strong knowledge of local traffic laws and road safety regulations.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy packages (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet tight schedules.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge for routine checks and minor troubleshooting.
- Effective communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent education.
- Familiarity with Bodles, Old Harbour, and surrounding St. Catherine Parish areas.
- Experience with handheld delivery devices or GPS navigation systems.
- Basic computer literacy for logging and reporting.
- Proven customer service experience in a delivery setting.
